I was commissioned to produce a DVD yearbook of our battalion in Iraq during our tour from March 2003 through October 2004. I shot a lot of videos, used a lot of photos from soldiers in the battalion, and interviewed several battalion members. This is 1/501st Attack Aviation Regiment, 1st Armored Division, and I was assigned to Alpha Company Scout Platoon. My primary job was 8700496 and 8700454, the wing numbers to Apache AH-64A. 454 (8700454) was not originally my bird whereas 496 (8700496) was. 496 name was Christine because she was a bitch, just like that bitch in the movie Christine (I am talking about the aircraft). She loved me but she did not love anyone else. For anyone who is an aircraft engineering or crew-chief, the bird and the mechanic are lovers in some form or fashion. You get to know all of it's temperament, it's moods, and it's personality. It took over 454 because the soldier responsible for her left the Army after his six year contract. The DVD was given to me as a project to showcase our tour in Iraq. Part time, I shot loads of video for editing into a DVD. The DVD did not make the production line, but it is available if someone only paid for a blank DVD-R-DL.
