JourneyTo.Us

The journey actually starts on September 1, 2000 when Serenity contacted me on ICQ about an organization that she belong to called DiverseWebWorks. DWW is an organization for minorities in the computer field. Even though the organization was designed for minorities, there were a very diverse group of people who ran the organization. That day, we talked on MSN Messenger for hours on the voice chat. We became so convertible with each other, by September 10, 2000, I asked for her hand in married sight unseen. Serenity lived in Louisville, KY and I was in Long Beach, CA.

In November 2000, there was a conference that Serenity was organizing and she felt that would be a neutral place for us to meet. The video starts on November 3, 2000 in LAX of me waiting for the plane. In the background, you can hear my mother talking. At this time, any could walk around the airport without a ticket and my mother saw me off at the gate of the airplane. The first few minutes of the video are shots of the actual flight and me playing with the video camera.

After I got off the plane, Serenity was not there waiting for me. I was like, oh no! I couldn't to walk to the front and took the airport automated subway tram to the front gate. I was walking about and saw Serenity sitting in her car. She screamed with excitement and I immediately knew that it was her. I got in the car. Needless to say, we hung out all night and the rest is none of your business.

The next morning, I captured Serenity putting on makeup on camera before one of the sessions of DWW. This is the only video tape of us together for the first time.

Me being a bachelor, I was living in someone's guess house. Rent was cheap and my hard earned dollars went towards partying and such. Yes, at age 28, I had a good job living cheaply so I could live it up on the outside. I took Serenity on a video tour as well. Soon after that, my folks came over and was introduced to Serenity over the Internet chat line. My father's wife, whom I call Sister Halimah (She is not my real mother, however, I treat her like a mother. My real mother's voice was heard in the beginning of the video and did not want to be video tapped). The days of being a bachelor are over from the day I met Serenity.

In between the videotaping, me and Serenity talked every single moment we were not working. Some nights, we feel asleep while the MSN Voice Chat still kept us on. Before work, we will literally wake up together.

Sometime in February 2001, we met again at LAX. I met her at the gates of the plane and of course, she does not like to be videotaped after a long flight. One day, my folks wanted to pick us up for a family outing and to meet Serenity for the first time. This is where the video ends.
