This video starts out on March 13, 2001 when me and my father were simply driving around. I was preparing to join the Army, so I moved in with my folks so that I can get my situation straight and to prepare for me and Serenity for getting married. Serenity landed in Ontario, CA on March 17, 2001 and spent a few days planning. On March 19, 2001, Jules, his friend, Serenity, and I went to Las Vegas, NV to get married. The video shows us getting the marriage certificate and getting married in front of a commissioner.

After we got married, on March 20, 2001, I joined the Army at age 29. The video shows me going through the process and was sworn into the Army. The next morning, it is time for me to ship out to Fort Jackson, SC for Basic Training. At that point, I will not see Serenity again until after I graduated from Basic Training. The last part of the video shows Serenity taking off on the plane to go back home to Louisville, KY.

My job in the Army is 67-R (now 15-R), Apache Mechanic. Because I had some education background, I started out as a rank SPC (E-3).

The following is not on the video. Whenever they let me, I was allowed to call Serenity from the pay phones on the lobby of Basic Training and only got 10 minutes to talk to her every weekend. I wrote Serenity letters every night and sent them to her like a diary of what I was doing in Basic. Sometime in June 2001, I graduated from Basic and families were allowed the day before to spend time with the graduating soldiers (picture on the right).

After graduation, we drove Fort Eustis, VA so that I can go to Advance Individual Training (AIT). In AIT, we had more freedoms on the weekends than we did in Basic so Serenity would come once a month to visit me. On graduation day, sometime in October 2001, we spent several days together before my flight to Germany, where I was assigned.

When I arrived in Germany, I immediately started working on paperwork to get my wife over there as well. On December 24, 2001, my wife finally joined me in Hanau, Germany. We were together in Germany from December 2001 until November 2004. I spend 15 months in Iraq with Alpha Company Assassins, 1/501st Attack Aviation Regiment under 1st Armored Division from March 2003 through October 2004 (Flickr photos).

I was reassigned to Fort Bragg, NC under Delta Company Wolfpack, 1/82nd Attack Reconnaissance Battalion under 82nd Airborne Division (picture on the left is me and Shango at the vet in Fayetteville, NC. We spent a few a few years there until I was Honorably Discharge from the Army on October 2006.

We moved to Phoenix, AZ after the Army and have been here ever since. Since then, we have worked for 2Wire together, Apollo Group together, and now we are moving into a new year where many things have changed and we have been through so much. At the time of this article being published (12/26/2009), by March 20, 2010, we would be celebrating our 9 year anniversary. After 9 years and after going through so much together, I have to say that Serenity is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love her so much.
