D.J. SmOoOth

ympmusic_smoooth.jpg When I was going to Long Beach City College, I took classes in Television Production, Music Production, and Film. I was known to my classmates as D.J. Smoooth. Here are the tracks I created when I was attending Long Beach City College, in Long Beach, California. 1993-1996

Amidst all of this, I created the Aztec Project as well. However, D.J. Smoooth was not really associated with that piece. That is just Antonio's.

The dates of the project are not exact and was not archived very well.

cover.jpg I started attending Long Beach City College Spring semester of 1993.  My major was Film at the time and decided to change to television and music production instead because I had no idea how elaborate the television and music labs were in the music department.

I could not WAIT until Fall 1993 so I could begin working in the music and television department.  WOW, what an experience!  The main people I remember the most were my best friends Chante Holsey and Dalonte Smith.  I also met my lifetime best friend and film partner Jules Christian as well at LBCC.  Wow, those were the days.

The music I made during this time was all for fun.  But locked away on a magnetic format D.A.T. (Digital Audio Tape), especially since D.A.T. are not in production any more, I have not heard my music since 1995.  Now for the first time, thanks to Rob at yipDogStudios, I am now able to hear my music.

They say that magnetic tape can only last 10 years or so in the best conditions, like a dry cool environment.  Well, my tapes have been through HOT Arizona summers in storage and extreme humidity weather in North Carolina.  After all these years of careless handling, I can archive the audio and thanks again to Rob, he was able to transfer the audio files digitally on his MAC to a WAVE file and burned it on a DVD-R.  I just picked up the DVD last night (January 26, 2008), awesome.  It has been over 10 years now.

Here it is...

At Long Beach City College (Long Beach, California) sometime in 1995, I had to create a final show and tell project for both Spanish class, Video class, and Audio class. Three classes, three separate projects, or was it... Oh I forgot, four. Music Production class as well. DAMN!!!

When I was attending Long Beach City College, I was in the television and music program (Long Beach, California). With an 8-track audio track cassette, I created several tracks of music. In this article, this is from a CD I made which includes 40% of the music I created there. Remember, I was amatuer, so give me a break. Please comment in this article letting me know what you think about the music.
